About
Smokey BrightsFronted by husband and wife duo Kim West (keys and vocals) and Ryan Devlin (guitar and vocals,) Smokey Brights is a rock band out of Seattle, Washington. The couple’s entrancing bond shines through in their deeply personal cowriting as well as their ecstatic live performances. They write about their transition from young friends to life partners in their beloved city, touring in a van during the Northwest’s notoriously grey winters, and being in love in a deeply uncertain world. West and Devlin’s songs are made eminently danceable by Nick Krivchenia (drums) and Luke Ragnar (bass.) Known for their explosive live shows that immerse the listener in warm, harmony rich, arena rock anthems, Smokey Brights instantly found a hardcore fanbase in the US, UK, and Europe, and have earned slots at SXSW, Bumbershoot, Sasquatch!, Off Beat Festival, and Treefort Music Fest.Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | Spotify | YoutubeSmall PaulSmall Paul was born in a Seattle basement In the early days of COVID as a happy accident between housemates Kevin Murphy from The Moondoggies, Chris King and Malcolm Roberts from Chris King & The Gutterballs with Seth McDonald from All Star Opera. What started out as casual music chairs between friends overtime blossomed into a four headed creative monster. During the long strange days of quarantine the project’s ease and freedom allowed for productive hours of symbiotic collaboration and summoning songs for strange times. The Four songs from Small Paul’s debut “Strangeland” reflect ideas of traveling forward, movement and self reflection. The images of the road that rolls under us as we push ahead through grief, change, isolation, and the passing of time and people. The EP at its core captures the band playing together live.Kevin and Chris trade lead vocal and drum/guitar duties, with Malcolm contributing backing vocals for Small Paul’s three part harmonies as well as bass and Seth coloring the songs with keys. ‘Strangeland’ EP, is mixed by Seattle veteran, Erik Blood (Shabazz Palaces, The Moondoggies), and recorded by Bradford Button at Barndoor studio. The band is currently working on their debut full length album set to release sometime in 2023. As she found herself questioning what might come next, rather than pursue stage lights at the expense of a personal life, Alexandra craved stability and balance. Not an uncommon desire for seasoned musical artists at the end of an album campaign. Falling in love, and moving from Seattle back to her college town of Bellingham, WA made even the most basic life details nostalgic. All of a sudden she was again surrounded by the scenery that inspired her to become a songwriter over a decade ago. There was something ripe for reflection in moving back to the town where her creative life began, in an effort to build something completely new. It would be the dawn of Something Brighter.Spotify | Instagram | Twitter | Youtube
