Porch Kiss is a lo-fi bedroom pop band from Longview, Washington, led by Erik. Their music often reflects personal and emotional experiences, inspired by the landscapes of Washington State and Erik's own journey with mental health. The band's sound features dreamy, nostalgic tones and is influenced by artists like Orchid Mantis and Explosions in the Sky. Porch Kiss is part of the DIY music community in Longview, contributing to a growing local scene by collaborating with a downtown record store for shows and events.In 2021, while battling cancer, Brandon discovered his musical calling during chemotherapy sessions. This journey led to the birth of vhs ghost, a project named after a love for vintage horror films and their comforting scores. With his cat Salem by his side, he produced his inaugural album not knowing what the results of treatment would be. Since beating cancer he continues to craft a unique blend of spooky atmospheres and melodic compositions, with Salem remaining an integral part of the creative process. Characterized by warm lo-fi tape recordings and vintage keyboard tones, vhs ghost’s music channels 80s/90s nostalgia and macabre allure, using retro keyboards, heartfelt guitar riffs, and ethereal synth harmonies. Embracing the analog ethos, vhs ghost’s dedication to this nostalgic era also extends to releasing music on cassette tapes, offering a raw and authentic sonic experience that invites listeners into a realm where haunting melodies meet triumphant resilience.
